Cycles Approach
- Population:
- Children 2 1/2 years to 14 years old
- Children who are highly unintelligible with multiple speech errors
- Purpose of the approach:
- To increase the intelligibility in children with severe to profound phonological impairments
- For children with 20% or lower intelligibility
- Steps of the approach:
- Each phoneme pattern is targeted for 60 minutes, once a week or for 30 minutes twice a week
- There is no predetermined level of mastery for movement to the next cycle
- Must be stimulable for sounds previous to treatment
