Cycles Approach

• Population:
• Children 2 1/2 years to 14 years old 
• Children who are highly unintelligible with multiple speech errors

• Purpose of the approach:
• To increase the intelligibility in children with severe to profound phonological impairments 
• For children with 20% or lower intelligibility 

• Steps of the approach:
• Each phoneme pattern is targeted for 60 minutes, once a week or for 30 minutes twice a week
• There is no predetermined level of mastery for movement to the next cycle 
• Must be stimulable for sounds previous to treatment
